Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of experience in designing and manufacturing adaptive equipment for individuals with
multi-handicapping conditions; or two years of full performance in carpentry or a related trade,
one year of which must have been in the designing and manufacturing of adaptive equipment for
individuals with multi-handicapping conditions.
Transfer Qualifications: Any permanent Adaptive Equipment Specialist
Any permanent employee eligible for a 70.1 transfer.
Provisional Appointment: In the event there is not a valid eligible list, candidates who meet the minimum qualifications
above may be qualified for a provisional appointment.
Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The Adaptive Equipment Specialist is needed to meet the ongoing needs of existing wheelchair and seating system repairs as well as the fabrication/customization of new equipment, such as: wheelchairs, shower chairs, toilet commodes, and assistive devices for individuals to maximize support, safety, and function. The Adaptive Equipment Specialist will also participate in seating clinics and perform off-site repairs and maintenance, and utilize various machine shop equipment in the fabrication/repair/customization of adaptive equipment and assistive devices.
• Adaptive Equipment Specialists implement a program of design, fabrication, and maintenance of adaptive equipment intended to provide optimum therapeutic positioning, function, and mobility of individuals with disabilities thus allowing maximum participation of such individuals in habilitation programs and progress toward living and working in the least-restrictive environment.
