Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

1. A Master's degree at the time of appointment in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Engineering Technology, Agricultural Education, or Agricultural Systems Management, or closely related discipline.

2. At least three years of professional experience in the agricultural or construction equipment industry.
Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the aforementioned minimum qualifications, it is preferred the candidate also have:

1. 3 or more years of teaching and curriculum development experience at the college level in the area of agricultural equipment technology.

2. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a dynamic team in an interdisciplinary environment.

3. Five or more years of professional experience in the agricultural or construction equipment industry.

4. Demonstrated ability in developing industry partnerships in the agricultural or construction equipment industry and/or the ability to facilitate procurement of resources in an academic environment.

Duties Description About the Department

The Agricultural Engineering Technology Department offers programs to prepare students for the equipment industry, providing them with the knowledge in these highly technical fields. Students learn on state-of-the-art equipment provided by John Deere, Caterpillar, Case New Holland, Komatsu, and many other agricultural/construction equipment companies. The Agricultural Power Machinery associate degree program trains students as technicians for the agricultural equipment industry. Students can choose from two tracks: Agricultural Power Machinery or Agricultural Power Machinery - John Deere Tech.

In the Diesel Technology associate degree program. students develop the skills necessary for careers in today's power market, which is almost exclusively diesel-fueled. In that program, students can specialize in John Deere Construction and Forestry Equipment. The Agricultural Equipment Technology bachelor's program focuses on diagnostics of advanced equipment systems, management skills and communication skill development. As part of the program, students are prepared to complete internships in agricultural and industrial businesses.

Job Description

The successful candidate will teach a variety of Agricultural Engineering Technology courses at the associate and baccalaureate level and should have a thorough and broad understanding of modern production agricultural equipment and technology. Teaching topics may include, but are not limited to: agricultural and construction equipment, electrical and electronic systems, hydraulics, engines, power trains, fuel systems, and computer systems used in off-road machinery.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in curriculum development, student advisement, internship supervision, industry collaboration, student recruitment, assessment, and the development, delivery, and leadership of industry training programs. Expectations also include engagement in scholarship, grant writing, campus governance, other service, and assessment. Teaching assignments may be weekday, evenings, weekend, and online.

The successful applicant must have a strong interest in higher education and be enthusiastic about creating an educational environment that is innovative and inspiring to students in the classroom and in the field.
