Candidates must possess a valid NYS Class B drivers license without an air brake restriction at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications:
Certification for forklift operation is desirable and will be required to be obtained during the probationary period.

Duties Description Position Summary:
The successful candidate for the position of Motor Vehicle Operator in Facilities Operations at UB, you will need to load, unload, and otherwise physically handle equipment, furniture, supplies, and the like. You must operate a variety of motorized vehicles and equipment to include a stand up fork lift and other electric and manually operated material handling equipment (for which you will require initial and periodic training and continually-current licensure). You will deliver wide range of material from small courier packages to large, bulky items and heavy equipment.

You may be required to safely handle a variety of hazardous and flammable materials including full and empty gas cylinders and sealed chemical containers. You must possess knowledge of and continually demonstrate best-in-class methods and practices used in distributing shipments of materials, equipment, and supplies. You must at all times strictly adhere to all Federal (OSHA) and State (DOT) laws, as well as UB safety and motor vehicle policy. Candidates must possess a valid NYS Class B Drivers License without an air brake restriction.

This position is defined as safety sensitive, as such, is subject to alcohol and drug testing under the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991.

Successful candidates in the position must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. This position may require you to work in a team so the candidate should have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. The candidate must possess and have proven positive customer service skills; must also possess good listening skills and be able to understand and follow written and/or oral instructions. Since the activities of other employees depend upon the availability of the employee in this position, reliable attendance is a factor that will be considered when filling this vacancy.
