Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree and current certification as a New York State Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), and one year of post certification experience as a group or individual counselor in a recognized alcohol and/or substance abuse treatment program providing ongoing counseling services in this area. OR a specialized bachelor's degree and two years of experience as a group or individual counselor in a recognized alcohol and/or substance abuse treatment program providing ongoing counseling services in this area. OR a specialized master's degree and one year of this experience.
Duties Description Supervise ASAT program. Develop/deliver ASAT based on the shock incarceration procedural manual and ASAT manual. Function as Correction Counselor for two offender platoons, perform case management duties for the assigned case-load, screen guidance folders, conduct initial interview upon arrival of offenders to facility. Meet regularly with counselors/instructors to offenders. Act as a professional intermediary and liaison between offenders in the identification and resolution of personal problems directly cased by or related to facility living. Serve on committees and/or accept additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
