Minimum Qualifications Applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) years of civil litigation experience. Excellent writing, analytical and organizational skills are also required. Candidates possessing experience in health advocacy, consumer protection and/or affirmative litigation are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that attorneys in the Office be citizens of the United States. A two (2) year commitment upon being hired is a condition of employment.
Duties Description The New York State Office of the Attorney General is seeking an experienced attorney to serve in its Health Care Bureau in New York City. The Health Care Bureau safeguards the rights of health care consumers statewide through investigation of and enforcement actions against insurers, providers, drug companies and other individuals and entities that engage in fraudulent, misleading, deceptive, or illegal practices in the health care market. In addition, the Bureau advocates for legislation and policy initiatives to enhance the rights of health care consumers and their ability to access quality, affordable care in New York State.
The selected attorney’s primary responsibilities will be to lead investigations and enforcement actions in furtherance of our mission to protect consumers. These cases typically seek injunctive relief, restitution, costs and penalties.
