Minimum Qualifications Five or more years of experience in supporting IBM WebSphere Middleware in a clustered, highly-available environment. This experience must include: installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance, ideally in the following products:
• Portal v6.1 or v8.0
• Application Server 7.0 and higher
• Business Monitor v6.1 and higher
• Process Server v6.1, v7.0
• Supporting Alfresco Document Management in a WebSphere Application Server Environment.
• Supporting configuration and administration of IBM Datapower appliances.
The following degrees, preferably in Computer Science, or Engineering, or related field, may substitute for the general experience as indicated:
• Associate’s degree and four years of experience
• Associate’s degree including 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field and three years of experience
• Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience
• Bachelor’s degree including 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field and two years of experience
• Master’s degree in computer science or related field substitutes for an additional year of experience
• Doctorate in computer science or related field substitutes for an additional two years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the technical background, the ideal candidate will have:
• Experience with supporting systems related to Criminal Justice processing
• Ability to work closely with application developers and Enterprise Architects on application deployment and troubleshooting
• Work effectively as a member of a technical project team for projects based on IBM Middleware
Duties Description Under the direction of a Manager Information Technology Services 1, SG27 within the Solutions Architecture and Shared Services of the Public Safety Cluster (PSC) located in Albany, the Project Assistant will support the IBM Websphere Infrastructure of the Integrated Justice Portal in which most PSC applications run. This environment provides access to Public Safety applications serving both State and Local government agencies, with 24x7x365 support. The Project Assistant will be key for set up for remediation and resiliency of the Integrated Justice Portal, in support of the following project efforts:
• IJ Portal Resiliancy
• Portal Migration to CNSE
• Websphere 8.5 Upgrade
• Websphere Re-clustering
• Websphere Portal Server Upgrades
• Websphere Process Server Upgrades
• Support of Enterprise Operations Oracle DB Upgrades
• Additional projects as assigned
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Administration and support of IBM Websphere version 8.5.5, Portal 8, and Process Server 8.5, in a clustered, high-availability environment;
• Perform installation and configuration, testing, and troubleshooting for the Websphere platform in the Integration, Test, Staging and Production environments;
• Perform scheduled critical application deployments daily;
• Work closely with application development, quality assurance, and enterprise architecture teams to troubleshoot and resolve Websphere issues in all environments;
• Manage installs and upgrades, and configure and maintain the vendor supplied platform software;
• Deploy and configure Public Safety applications to run on the Integrated Justice Portal platform;
• Work off-hours occasionally to support maintenance, system migrations, upgrades, deployments, and other initiatives;
• Participate in rotational off-shift support to maintain 24x7 coverage and technical support of the Integrated Justice Portal.
