Duties Description The Addiction Counselor 2 will serve as a senior member of a case management team on the 44 bed unit performing assessment, treatment planning, case management, and clinical services with a marked degree of independence and little need for ongoing supervision.
This is a core position whose duties include, but are not limited to:
• Provide consultation to the team in the areas of assessment and treatment planning.
• Lead groups and other patient education or counseling sessions; provide individual and group counseling.
• Design and implement special clinical activities as assigned.
• Assist with Recreation Therapy activities.
• Provide consultation to less senior staff in all clinical documentation.
• Develop and prepare Interpretative Summaries.
• Establish, review, and update individualized treatment plans.
• Provide orientation for new patients including: Room Assignments, taking of photograph, searching of all belongings, chore assignments and orientation to the facility.
• Review/Completion of admission documents and consent forms.
• Monitor of patients on the ward to ensure safety (i.e., during meal times and at other times).
• Provision of case management / individual counseling for patients.
• In addition, supervision and training of staff and the completion of performance programs/evaluations; patient crisis intervention as needed and other tasks as assigned or needed.
This position provides constant intervention, initial assessment of patient issues, and continual monitoring of the patient milieu. This position supports the daily core functioning of the JLNATC.

Background Investigation Requirements:
Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC) that includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
