Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and three (3) to five (5) years of experience in institutional, fixed income structured product research. Preference may be given to candidates who have obtained their MBA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) credential (CFA study at any level a plus). Candidate must be a New York State resident or be willing to relocate.
Duties Description Under the general direction of the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and the Sr. Structured Products Portfolio Manager, the analyst will be responsible for analyzing a variety of complex structured products related to the internally managed portfolios.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Evaluate and generate cash flows for Mortgage Backed Security (MBS), Residential Mortgage Backed Security (RMBS), Commercial Mortgage Backed Security (CMBS), Asset Backed Security (ABS), Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLO) etc. on a daily basis using internal and industry tools;
• Produce written reports including structured product evaluations and quarterly updates, relative value analysis, and industry reviews;
• Research and analyze collateral and structures, model cash flows on pool assets, analyze loan details and issuer information on new issue Commercial Mortgage Backed Security (CMBS), Residential Mortgage Backed Security (RMBS), Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLO), Asset Backed Security (ABS), etc.;
• Utilize vender based research to reflect changes in structured products modeling assumptions;
• Provide fundamental and relative value research to generate structured product driven investment ideas and strategies to enhance portfolio returns and mitigate risk, exercising prudence in balancing both risk and expected return;
• Assess relative value for securities by analyzing collateral market trends, prepayments, defaults, severity, Option Adjusted Spread (OAS), variability in bond cashflows, and comparisons with other markets;
• Maintain relationships with sell-side strategists to achieve best ideas within structured products;
• Strong communication skills, a demonstrated ability to effectively interact with senior management, and a track record of individual initiative are required;
• Respond to Senior Management inquiries regarding credit concerns, market overviews, and tactical asset allocations;
• Experience with systems such as Intex Calc, Trepp, eMBS, Markit, Bloomberg, Yieldbook and Point, Andrew Davidson Vector, Blackrock Aladdin a plus. VBA/SQL a plus but not required.
