The ability to work independently as well as part of a team is necessary. Preference will be given to graduate students applicants, but undergraduate students are also encouraged to apply.

Duties Description The successful candidate will be involved in various special projects for the Mental Hygiene and Labor Relations (MHLR) Unit. The Mental Hygiene Unit budgets for the following agencies: Office of Mental Health (OMH), Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs, the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS), and the Developmental Disabilities Planning Council (DDPC), and is also responsible for budgeting for general state charges, employee fringe benefits and other collective bargaining issues.

The purpose of this internship will be to work, under the supervision of a team leader and with the assistance of other 008 examiners and State agency staff, on the development and maintenance of a residential housing programs inventory. The source of the inventory database will be from a recently completed property survey that was sent to all OMH residential property owners to compile basic information about the properties.

The maintenance and analysis of a residential housing program inventory will be critical in MHU's continuing effort to ensure these properties are properly maintained for the health and safety of OMH clients, as well as protecting the capital investments by the State. The intern will share the housing program inventory and participate in the evaluation of funding requests for OMH's residential portfolio.

The candidate also will be involved in other MHLR activities including analyzing data from other States, reporting on state mental health budget trends, and additional assignments as necessary.
