Duties Description Support Services Assistant positions are established as a reasonable accommodation to assist an individual State employee with disabilities in performing their duties. Duties and work schedule are tailored to meet the needs of the employee being assisted. The specific duties depend on the needs of the employee being assisted.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Reads written materials aloud or reads silently and then summarizes the contents. The nature of the written materials varies according to the work of the employee being assisted and may include technical or legal terminology and may be confidential;
• Types information from PDF files, emails, and other non-accessible electronic formats into Word format so that the Braille reader can translate needed information.
• Assists in the preparation of written materials;
• Attends meetings, takes notes and secures printed materials on information that would be otherwise inaccessible for the employee being assisted;
• Receives and places phone calls;
• As needed, travels with the employee and assists in on-site work, including:
o Data entry into various computer programs;
o Filing including sorting, locating and returning files;
o Learning new computer systems as needed;
o Performing other routine clerical duties as assigned;
o Delivering files and worksheets as needed;
o Escorting the employee who needs assistance to meeting as needed.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum qualifications: a high school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred minimum qualifications: candidates must be able to read, write and communicate in English, and follow instructions.
