Duties Description The Laboratory Security Director (Project Coordinator) will direct the Wadsworth Center’s Security and Emergency Services ensuring the protection of Wadsworth Center employees, facilities, and assets 24/7 across five locations. The incumbent is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of a comprehensive security master plan for Wadsworth’s facilities. This includes monitoring, reviewing and interpreting laws and regulations governing security requirements in unique laboratory facilities. Design, promote, and oversee the Security Risk Assessment Program for the Wadsworth Center. Develop, prepare, and implement an emergency response program that addresses and incorporates the federal incident command structure as it relates to the biological, chemical, nuclear, and select agent concerns. Establish and direct the Wadsworth Center Security Officer Training School pursuant to section 6028.6 of the NYCRR.

Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive: nine years of experience managing security services within a facility operating in a regulatory environment, such as a public health laboratory, energy facility, or military base setting. Two years of this experience must have included supervision of security operation staff.

Note: Experience limited to general police, peace, and/or patrol officer duties is not considered qualifying.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated strong leadersip in managing security and emergency service programs in a highly regulatory environment. Experience supervising uniformed security officers staff providing 24/7 security. Possession of current Federal or State certification in Incident Command and/or Emergency Management, and experience and certification in conducting the Security Guard Training Program (SGTP) preferred.

Additionally, exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position; the selected candidate may be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment and may undergo pre-employment and/or periodic health evaluations and receive specific immunizations.

* Initial appointment will be made as Laboratory Security Director (Project Coordinator), Temporary position, with an hourly rate of $53.26 and represented by PS&T - Professional, Scientific, and Technical (PEF). It is anticipated that this position will become a permanent, non-competitive, Laboratory Security Director, G-662, represented by M/C at a later date.
