Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Current OGS employees who have permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as a Building Space Analyst 1 and are interested in reassignment; OR current NYS employees with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as a Senior Superintendent of Construction and are eligible for transfer via section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Provisional Pending Examination (Open Competitive):
Six years of experience performing hands-on space planning and allocation in commercial or residential building interiors. Experience must include creating floor plans, assigning space and preparing CADD drawings based upon client requirements.
Substitution: A bachelor's degree in architecture, space planning, or interior design will substitute for up to four years of experience. An associate's degree in architecture, space planning, or interior design will substitute for up to two years of experience.
Duties Description The Building Space Analyst 1 position in Real Estate Services is required to assist with the development of space program requirements, site selection, planning or oversight of space planning services for over 600 leases in the state portfolio, as well as office space in state office buildings. This portfolio includes over 12 million square feet of leased space. The Incumbent will be quantifying space requirements, preparing or overseeing building assessments for code and Americans with Disabilities Act program requirements and interior designs. The incumbent will interface with landlords’ project managers/architects, on an as needed basis, during project development and implementation. Additional duties will include, but not be limited to: oversight of furniture assessment/ordering/design review, document progress in the project costing module of SFS and statistical analysis for state office buildings and leased properties.
Additional Comments Knowledge of New York State Building Code, AutoCAD skills for preparation of in-house space planning drawings and AutoCAD procedures is preferred.
