Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience in electrical work under the supervision of a skilled Electrician, or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course in the electrical trade.
Duties Description Position Summary:
To be successful in this position you must possess a working knowledge and ability to properly use material, tools and equipment associated with the electrical trade, including standard hand tools, portable power tools, measuring and testing instruments and shop equipment. Must have experience in the installation of conduit, panels and wire to NEC specifications. You also must be able to complete routine maintenance on light fixtures, outlets and switches. You may also function at times as a lead worker on a project over Maintenance Helpers, Laborers and other relatively unskilled workers. You should be able to explain and demonstrate your skills and competency for this position. Must possess and have demonstrated positive customer service skills; must be able to understand written and/or oral instructions. Successful candidates in the position must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. This position may require you to work in a team so the candidate should have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. You must possess and have proven positive customer service skills; must also possess good listening skills and be able to understand and follow written and/or oral instructions. Since the activities of other employees depend upon the availability of the employee in this position, reliable attendance is a factor that will be considered when filling this vacancy. This position requires traveling within and between campuses. A valid license to operate a motor vehicle in NYS is preferred or you should otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
