Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
1. Master's Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and a state teacher certification
2. evidence of teaching excellence & experience with children 8 years old and younger
3. evidence of teaching excellence & experience with undergraduate students
4. excellent verbal and written communication skills
5. experience working as a team member, sharing workload equally with colleagues
6. ability to guide college students in lesson development, implementation, assessment and self-reflection
7. ability to develop and maintain strong positive working relationships with local child care centers, elementary schools and agencies
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the aforementioned minimum qualifications, it is preferred the candidate also have:
1. earned doctorate in Early Childhood or related field
2. evidence of college student advising experience
3. experience with internship site development and supervision
experience with course and program assessment and / or program development
4. evidence of excellence in educating and mentoring a diverse group of adult learners
5. evidence of continued professional development and advanced graduate coursework
Duties Description The State University of New York at Cobleskill seeks an Early Childhood Development and Curriculum expert who is strongly committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching to join its faculty as an Assistant/Associate Professor. The successful candidate will have a specialty in Early Childhood/Elementary Education or closely related discipline. The incumbent will teach and advise students in curriculum-based advisement tracks for Early Childhood majors. Expertise in the following coursework is required: Child Guidance and classroom Management, EC Curriculum and Methods, Math and Science for Young Children, Early Literacy, and Supervision of students in EC field experiences (practicum and internship).
Other duties for this position include: advisement of undergraduate students, facilitating partnerships with colleges in degree completion programs and participating in recruitment events and extracurricular experiences with students. Participation in department, school, and college activities & continued professional development and college service are expected. The candidate may be expected to supervise internships placements in private and public schools.
