Minimum Qualifications Transfer: Eligible for a lateral transfer or a 70.1 transfer by having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title.

OR

Promotional/Provisional: Eligible for a provisional appointment if candidate meets the promotional qualifications of one year of permanent competitive service as a Temporary Assistance Specialist 1, SG-18.

Duties Description This Temporary Assistance Specialist 2 position is located in the Downstate Systems/Metro Bureau, within Employment and Income Support Programs.
Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Conduct Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Management Evaluation (ME) Reviews and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Reviews. Review/monitor NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) operations as required;
• Prepare reports, identify deficiencies, and provide for corrective action and training based on findings in SNAP ME and TANF Reviews;
• Supervise staff on the NYC Metro Team who are responsible for conducting SNAP Management Evaluations Reviews, TANF Reviews, monitoring SNAP, providing assistance and training to HRA staff in the administration of Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) Programs, processing of Gold Slips, Freedom of Information Requests (FOILS), subpoena requests, and case closure requests;
• Respond to written and oral requests for TA and SNAP information/clarification from varied sources;
• Communicate as a liaison with internal and external staff regarding TA and SNAP programs & regional issues; and
• Monitor SNAP processing claims timeliness for NYC and work with Bureau Chief to develop the plan to meet the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) target for SNAP Timeliness.

Additional Comments Appointment will be contingent upon Division of Budget approval to fill. You must be a current NYS employee to apply for this position. A full-time, permanent appointment will be made. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title.

Salary includes $3026 location pay.
