In accordance with union contract, this position is anticipated to be filled by an eligible DEC - CSEA Operational Services Unit 03 employee who meets the minimum qualifications. Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trades worker or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course.
Duties Description The position will construct, repair and maintain State facilities, and all associated infrastructure. Infrastructure may include construction and maintenance of building systems such as water distribution, electrical components and HVAC systems, including troubleshooting and diagnosis of existing systems. Responsibilities may also include the construction of observation platforms, bridges, kiosks and other signage, placement of concrete slabs and other specialty applications. Other essential functions include the operation and maintenance of all construction equipment and power tools, in addition to operation of surveying instruments for building and structure construction layout. May require supervision of seasonal staff, crews or contractors. Will be required to use a computer to complete daily work orders and reports and purchase supplies and materials.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overnight travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must have a valid Class B CDL within 6 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements. Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse.
