Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Manager Educational and Vocational Services Coordination 1.
Section 70.1 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Associate Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.
Section 52.6 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title allocated to M-1 (SG-24/25) or higher eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Manager Educational and Vocational Coordination 1 Civil Service eligible list. If you are on the Civil Service eligible list for this title, you may receive a canvass letter. You must complete and return it as instructed on the letter.
Provisional Appointment: In the absence of an eligible list with three or more candidates willing to accept a position, a non-permanent provisional appointment may be considered. For non-permanent provisional appointment, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Supervisor, Education of Children with Disabilities; Assistant District Manager Vocational and Educational Services; Supervising Rehabilitation Facilities Specialist; Associate in Education of Children with Disabilities; Associate Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor; Vocational Rehabilitation Social Services Consultant; Vocational Rehabilitation Social Security Consultant; or Employment Specialist for Individuals with Disabilities 2. Provisional candidates must take the examination for Manager Educational and Vocational Services Coordination 1 when it is next offered, and must be reachable on the resulting eligible list to maintain employment.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) is seeking candidates for a Manager Educational and Vocational Services Coordination 1 position in the Albany Central Office. The incumbent of this position will manage, set policy and provide guidance and direction to ACCES-VR staff on all matters related to transition activities. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Supervise the Transition and Youth Services (TAYS) Unit;
• Coordinate the creation and implementation of policies, procedures and initiatives to provide ACCES-VR services to youth and students;
• Coordinate statewide strategies and plans to provide Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to potentially eligible students; and
• Coordinate interagency and intragency collaborations to assist students and youth with disabilities in receiving ACCES-VR services.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent or a non-permanent provisional appointment. Provisional candidates must take the examination for Manager Educational and Vocational Services Coordination 1 when it is next offered, and must be reachable on the resulting eligible list to maintain employment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits.
* Leads to a maximum salary of $111,005 based on annual performance advances.
