Minimum Qualifications Conditions of Employment:
To be considered for appointment you will be required to pass a Civil Service language exam to demonstrate proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading Spanish at a level that will ensure your ability to perform the duties of the position.
Transfer Qualifications:
An employee with one-year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title allocated to Grade 7 or higher may qualify for transfer pursuant to Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Provisional Appointment Qualifications:
On or before the date of appointment you must have had one year of permanent competitive or 55b/55c non-competitive service in a clerical or keyboarding position allocated to Grade 5 or higher
OR
An Associate's Degree or 60 college semester credit hours and one year of full time work experience in customer service*
OR
A high school diploma or GED and three years of full time work experience one year of which must be in customer service*.
*Customer service is defined as dealing with many different individuals on a continuous basis where verbal communication is the primary aspect for accomplishing the duties of the position. Qualifying experience includes call center agent, caseworker, customer service representative, sales representative providing information and service. Non-qualifying experience includes cashier, fast food worker, gas attendant or security guard.
Duties Description As a Senior Employment Security Clerk in the Unemployment Insurance Division, your duties would include any of the following: communication with employers and Department staff to resolve discrepancies and answer questions; entering, updating and retrieving information from systems; provide administrative office support, screen and refer telephone calls to appropriate staff, examine daily mail; be responsible for the preparation of a variety of documents, databases and correspondences using various Microsoft Office applications; and other clerical duties as needed. As a Senior Employment Security Clerk (SL) you would be expected to perform all of these duties in English and Spanish.
