Minimum Qualifications Six years’ experience in domestic violence service provision, training and/or education. A Bachelor’s degree can substitute for four years of experience; a Master’s degree can substitute for five years of experience; a PhD may substitute for six years of specialized experience. Degrees must be in the area of human services, social sciences, or education.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with experience in making Training presentations or with Public Speaking experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Knowledge of the child welfare, child protective services, and criminal justice systems, knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault issues, and strong writing, speaking, organizational, computer and interpersonal skills are preferred. Preference may be given to candidates with knowledge of adult learning theory and the instructional design process.

Duties Description Under the general supervision of a Domestic Violence Program Administrator 1 (Program Coordinator) for the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, the incumbent is responsible for the provision of domestic violence training and/or technical assistance to child protective and child welfare workers. Approximately 55% travel is required which includes travel time and conducting training. Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:


• Providing training and technical assistance to child protective and child welfare agencies including assessing needs, collecting and maintaining data and developing materials and job aids.
• Facilitating meetings and co-training curricula with staff from other agencies.
• Assisting in the review of domestic violence related educational, training, informational materials and policies.
• Conducting research to enhance project activities.
• Assisting in the development of curricula and in the planning, coordination and implementation of training initiatives including:

- conducting needs assessment research
- conducting task analysis research
- developing learning objectives
- developing training lessons and related materials including activities, practices, job aids, handouts, workbooks and contributing to the research and development of Computer Based Training modules using a combination of lecture and visual applications
- delivering training programs
- evaluating training programs including tabulation, analysis and reporting of Participant reaction surveys (level 1) and pre and post- tests (level 2) evaluations and level 3 evaluations
- preparing quarterly and final reports regarding training initiatives
- recruiting for and coordinating training programs


• Assisting in the development of informational and outreach materials.
• Conducting outreach programs (presentations) including coordinating project activities related to presentation delivery.
• Preparing written reports as required by the agency and/or funding sources.
