Minimum Qualifications Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Fish and Wildlife Technician 1 position which are as follows: 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Duties Description Assist with field activities and data management for New York State's fish contaminant monitoring program as follows:
- Participate as crew on an electroshocking boat to collect Hudson River fish for contaminant analysis. Process fish and deliver them to the Hale Creek Field Station. Manage logistics of fish collection and boat maintenance.
- Perform data entry and assist with data management of the fish contaminant database.
- Use collected fish scales to determine ages of fish.
- Provide oversight of fish collection for contaminant analysis by General Electric contractors.
- Assist with other Bureau of Habitat programs as needed.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and work in remote areas and adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds.

These are seasonal, hourly appointments. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties, and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
