Minimum Qualifications This is a transfer opportunity for current State Employees. The position is an 18-month traineeship leading to a CSEA grade 9. To be transfer eligible you must have current permanent or contingent permanent status as an Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding), LDDS Trainee, or LDDS.

If you are reachable on the Beginning Office Assistant Civil Service Eligible List you may receive a canvass letter in the mail.

CANDIDATE MAY BE REQUIRED TO TAKE AND PASS A TYPING PERFORMANCE TEST.

Duties Description This vacancy is in the Syracuse Regional Office.


•Confer with document originator to establish contents of documents.
•Produce a variety of legal documents, including but not limited to, orders, judgments, answers, and motions.
•Verify citations and other legal references.
•Edit legal work to comply with court rules and regulations.
•Enter documents into computer; retrieve specific data for reports.
•Maintain statistics related to document preparation.
•Organize and maintain records and indices of law cases.
•Maintain dockets and other filing systems.
•Prioritize work ensuring procedural and filing deadlines are met.
•Know the calendar of his/her assigned attorney; respond to inquiries about the attorney’s schedule, whereabouts, and the locations of his/her files.
•Make travel arrangements for his/her attorneys, including lodging and transportation reservations.
•Respond to inquiries from the public.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
