Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trades person or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course.
Duties Description Will be required to perform campground maintenance functions such as lifting garbage cans chest high, using rakes, shovels, push lawnmowers and cleaning toilets; perform duties in the Campground Recycle Center, i.e. process refuse, deposit containers and recyclables as mandated by New York State, County and Local Landfill policies; ensure tasks are conducted in a safe manner, with any injuries/illnesses reported immediately to supervisor; enforce campsite rules and regulations through period of employment; answer routine questions of park patrons and need to provide customer service that will enhance the public’s stay at facility; communicating effectively with the public as well as subordinates; handle and account for money and complete necessary closeout Revenue Reports; operate a personal computer to register campers; supervise 3 or more employees including Laborers, Park Rangers, and Lifeguards during absence of the Facility Supervisor; correct completion of camping permits, revenue reports, subordinate job assignments and completions, and camper registration/site assignments in the absence of the facility supervisor; stay at the campground overnight during the absence of the CRFS or as directed by the CRFS; perform a variety of semiskilled carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, roofing, masonry and related work in maintaining, repairing and constructing a wide variety of park structures, roads and other facilities; operate and performs such preventative maintenance as lubrication and making of minor adjustments on a variety of power-driven mechanical equipment including trucks, tractors, mowers, power saws and like equipment.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Must reside in State Housing.
This is a temporary appointment with a duration of 04/26/18 - 10/31/18.
