Minimum Qualifications * Ability to read, comprehend and review design and engineering drawings and plans;
* Knowledge of native plants and restoration techniques;
* Knowledge of sediment and erosion control techniques and best management practices;
* Previous construction oversight experience a plus;
* Must be highly organized, have strong interpersonal skills, possess ability to problem solve;
* Performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities;
* Ability to produce reports and technical briefing memos as needed and required;
* Ability to work collaboratively with a range of partners including: funders, landowners, engineers, planners, state, federal and local agencies, subcontractors and the public;
* Knowledge of applicable laws, permits and guidelines, particularly in regard to NYS DEC permits, Army Corps of Engineers Section 404 permits and NEPA requirements is a plus;
* BA/BS required, Masters preferred in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or Landscape Architecture
* Minimum of 2 years technical experience in design and construction of restoration related projects; a Masters degree in one of the above fields maybe substituted for one year’s experience.
Duties Description The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) in the Niagara Region is seeking a Project Manager to assist agency staff in the management of three Niagara River Restoration Projects. OPRHP has received Environmental Protection Agency’s Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grant funds to enhance and restore three areas within the Niagara River: Beaver Island State Park’s East River Marsh Extension; Buckhorn Island State Park’s Burnt Ship Creek, and Grass Island. The position will oversee the execution of these three projects and the grant administration.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
contract administration and management;
project quality assurance and quality control oversight;
project budget and scheduling oversight;
report writing and submission;
Additional Comments This is a three year part-time position. The position will be located at either DeVeaux Woods State Park or Beaver Island State Park.
