Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Associate in Education Improvement Services.
Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for this title.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for an Associate in Education Improvement Services position in the Office of Student Support Services. This Office promotes school improvement by focusing on social and emotional development and learning through programs, services and activities related to Pupil Personnel Services, School and Student Health, Expanded Learning Opportunities, Safe Schools and Alternative Education. This Office also oversees the Office of Child Nutrition and the Office of Early Learning. The incumbent of this position will focus primarily on School Safety and Educational Climate (SSEC) data, the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), and other areas of school climate and culture, including school/district safety plans. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Organize, coordinate, and conduct on-site school monitoring visits;
• Provide written, on-site, and/or verbal technical assistance to schools, local educational agencies, other public or private agencies, professional groups, or parents, as requested;
• Develop, coordinate, and/or facilitate meetings, conferences, webinars, or workshops to support program initiatives in collaboration with the NYS Center for School Safety;
• Serve in a lead position to the School Safety Task Force and School Climate workgroup;
• Complete reports, guidance documents, and site-visit reports within a designated timeframe;
• Research current educational practices, policies, statutes, regulations, and standards;
• Serve on committees to support or advance SED initiatives related to school safety, climate and culture;
• Assist in writing and reviewing regulations, Regents items, policies, and procedures regarding school climate and school safety;
• Collaborate with SED’s Information and Reporting Services (IRS) office regarding the SSEC data collection systems; and
• Perform special assignments as assigned.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. * Leads to a maximum salary of $103,609 based on annual performance advances.
