Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree AND two years of professional experience working in an education/development and fundraising environment, excellent organizational and analytical skills along with strong attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities while ensuring accuracy and professionalism and the ability to gain knowledge of gift and pledge processes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Special consideration will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:
• Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge.
• Experience in the development and working with K-12 education curriculum.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Cultural Education (OCE) is seeking candidates for an Assistant Director, Archives Partnership Trust position within the Archives Partnership Trust (APT). The APT is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and public benefit corporation that secures private funding to build an endowment and to underwrite creative educational, access, awareness and preservation projects to increase the use of the New York State Archives (NYSA). The NYSA is a program of the NYSED that identifies, preserves and makes available more than 200 million records of colonial and State government that have enduring value to all citizens. Under the direction of the Director, Archives Partnership Trust, the incumbent of this position will be responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of APT funded education projects, the Annual Fund and membership programs. Other duties of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Design, write and edit content for the Fall and Spring Annual Appeal and membership materials;
• Provide support with events and programs sponsored by the APT, including mailings and staffing registration tables;
• Review and process grant applications;
• Represent APT and the NYSA on special projects within the OCE and with external organizations;
• Work closely with the NYSA in the development and promotion of education guides for quarterly publications;
• Work with community organizations, such as Teacher Centers and BOCES to promote the value of accessing the NYSA as an educational resource along with previously developed tools available on the NYSA website;
• Conceptualize, develop and implement strategies to increase exposure of education resources and tools developed and supported by the NYSA;
• Research, write and manage grant funding requests for education projects utilizing and promoting historical documents in the NYSA;
• Provide oversight and guidance to ensure consistency in the brand images of the APT and NYSA;
• Perform duties related to the gift acknowledgement process to ensure that donors are recognized in a timely manner;
• Assist in the management, content development and branding of the APT website; and
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. The work schedule for this position may include occasional evenings and weekends. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance and other benefits. *Leads to a maximum salary of $86,398 based on annual performance advances.
