• Associate’s degree and seven years of experience

Duties Description Under the direction of a Manager Information Technology Services 2, SG29 within the Chief Operations Office (COO) Data Center Networks (DCN) Service Area, located in Albany, the incumbent will function as the lead subject matter expert for the migration of New York State data centers into the new, state-of-the-art data center at SUNYs College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE).

The Data Center Networks (DCN) group provides network services for the consolidated New York State Data Centers and is responsible for ensuring the proper flow of traffic between critical applications and locations for both voice and data networks. Current data center locations include: CNSE NFX; CNSE ZEN; Utica; 50 Wolf Road; 500 Balltown Road; Swan Street; and Weehawken, NJ; as well as many other legacy data centers which are targeted for consolidation.
The DCN provides implementation, support, and engineering for environments and technologies associated with the network infrastructure within the NYS consolidated data centers. These data centers house many of the existing applications that NYS residents and agencies utilize. This infrastructure requires 24x7x365 coverage and support. All existing NYS agency data centers are currently migrating their applications and infrastructure to the consolidated data centers.
The Project Coordinator is needed to help migrate the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) and other agencies that utilize Avaya equipment out of their current data centers and into CNSE.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Design, install and maintain the Avaya, Arista, Cisco, and Juniper environments.
• Create network solutions for DOCCS as well as other agencies that rely on Cisco, Avaya or Arista network equipment.

• Provide engineering needed to migrate environments to the consolidated data centers in both Utica and CNSE.

• Responsible for the installation of any network equipment, both IOS and NX-OS devices, as well as maintaining this environment during business hours and providing off-hours support.

• Coordinate with CTO, Project Managers, Cluster Managers regarding all changes, code upgrades, feature enhancements, testing, and cutovers.

• Direct unit activities with other technology units and customers through clear, accurate, and timely communication.
• Coordinate with User Support and System Administrators to provide Level III support for technical solutions.

• Configure, administer and maintain equipment in ITS Data Centers, including IPSec tunnel builds.
• Provide 24x7x365 on-call network support and escalation, and facilitate the expeditious resolution of incidents reported by first-level line managers, including escalation of technical resources, vendor support, and providing timely updates of incident status to upper management.

• Lead in the resolution of network issues and outages, including:

o In-depth analysis on network data captures using Wireshark and other monitoring tools
o Quick Views and TCP Dumps for troubleshooting at a Tier 3 level
o Coordinate with vendors to resolve issues
• Plan, implement, and support changes to the network including cable infrastructure, network software and hardware.

• Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation of active infrastructure, including Visio diagrams, operations procedures, training manuals, network templates.

• Participate in network performance analysis, training, and capacity planning.

• Review agency network connectivity and access requirements.
