Minimum Qualifications Note: The purpose of this vacancy posting is to notify individuals about transfer opportunities. Candidates reachable on the Civil Service Eligible lists will be canvassed. However, you may also apply if you are eligible for appointment by one of the following qualifications:
Section 70.1:
Candidates with one year permanent competitive, or 55 B/C service or the completion of a permanent traineeship in one of the following titles may qualify for transfer to Labor Services Representative (LVER), Grade 16 IF they also meet the veteran specific minimum qualifications below:
Labor Services Representative (and language parenthetics), SG 16
Jobs Program Specialist, SG 16
Supervising Labor Services Representative (and Spanish Language parenthetic), SG 20
All candidates must meet one of the following veteran specific minimum qualifications:
1. A veteran who served on active duty for over 180 days for purposes other than training and received a discharge other than dishonorable; OR
2. The spouse of a person who died of service-connected disabilities, the spouse of certain active duty individuals forcibly detained or listed as missing in action or the spouse of a 100% disabled veteran; OR
3. A member of a reserve component under an order to active duty during a period of war or in campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge is authorized and received a discharge other than dishonorable.
*Section 70.4:
Candidates with one year permanent competitive service as a Grade 11 or higher, who have a bachelor’s degree*, who have taken and passed the most recent examination for Labor Services Representative (LVER), Trainee 1, AND who meet the additional veteran specific minimum qualifications described above may qualify for transfer.
*From a regionally accredited college or university, or one recognized by the New York State Education Department as following acceptable education practices.
Duties Description The incumbent will conduct outreach to businesses and engage in advocacy efforts with hiring executives to increase employment opportunities for veterans; encourage the hiring of disabled veterans, and generally assist veterans to gain and retain employment. The duties assigned to LVER staff members will promote to businesses, business associations, and business groups the advantages of hiring veterans. LVER staff members will advocate for all veterans served by the Career Centers and ensure easier access to appropriate employment and training services for job seeking veterans in their local market areas.

Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evening and/or out-stationed assignments.
