Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have a license to practice medicine in New York State. You must also be eligible for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid or Medicare Programs.
In addition, you must have a M.D., M.B.B.S., or D.O. degree; and have completed one year of postgraduate training acceptable to the Liaison Committee on Graduate Medical Education of the American Medical Association (or as listed in the directory of approved residency training programs), and have had two years of subsequent medical experience.
Duties Description As a Clinical Physician 2, you would serve as Clinical Practitioner on an advance level, provide medical leadership, or serve as Director of specific programs. You may be in charge of a small medical-surgical service or part of a large service, or specialize in an area in which there are no specialty boards. If in charge of service, you would administer and actively participate in the general medical care of the patients for whom you are responsible, assigning patients to subordinates and conferring with them on diagnosis and treatment programs. You would participate in planning, developing and improving delivery systems, and establish community relationships with other providers and facilities. As a "specialist" you would be consulted on and provide medical treatment for specific types of patients presenting unusual medical problems.
