Minimum Qualifications Note: Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title. TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS: One year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title allocated to Grade 7 or higher may qualify for transfer pursuant to Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Eligible titles include, but are not limited to: Office Assistant 2, Grade 9; Office Assistant 2 Customer Service, Grade 9; and Office Assistant 2 Calculations, Grade 9.

Section 55-B/C: NYS employees with one year of permanent non-competitive service pursuant to Section 55-b/c of the Civil Service Law, may be eligible for a new 55-b/c appointment to this position if they meet the technical requirements for transfer pursuant to Civil Service Law ยง70.1 as stated above.

Duties Description As a Senior Employment Security Clerk assigned to the Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board, you would perform a variety of functions related to the processing of unemployment insurance hearings and appeals. You would instruct the public on the rules and regulations of the Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board regarding hearings and appeals. You would prepare and mail notices and decisions, review and process incoming mail and faxes, and communicate with claimants, employers and representatives regarding scheduling or other issues. You would review and update case files. You would act as the receptionist for the office answering phone calls concerning unemployment insurance hearings and appeals, and directing calls as needed. You would greet parties and attorneys attending hearings, and would contact language translation services as needed. You would also use computer terminals for input and retrieval of information.
