Duties Description The Department of Financial Services is seeking to fill the position of Training Specialist 2 in the Training Office in New York City. This position will have primary responsibility for facilitating and overseeing the learning opportunities associated with the agency’s trainees and traineeship program(s). The position reports to Training Management and typical duties also include, but are not limited to:

• Working with agency subject matter experts to author learning programs that build technical skills and knowledge needed by agency staff to effectively perform job related duties;
• Providing coaching and counseling to Trainees and Trainee Managers related to skill development and technical knowledge;
• Assessing training and development needs by observing agency staff and discussing agency programs with program managers;
• Ensuring training opportunities are in support of and compliance with agency policies, procedures and operations;
• Reviewing employee performance evaluation and program evaluation reports;
• Consulting with employee organization representatives regarding training proposals funded from monies under State and employee organization agreements;
• Researching various sources to find information, materials, and technologies to help in the design and development of training programs;
• Developing and preparing specific programs and courses to meet established training objectives;
• Negotiating and approving or recommending contracts with outside vendors to provide specific training and development programs;
• Presenting training courses dealing with complex and specialized material;
• May supervise lower level staff; and
• Informing program managers and staff of training opportunities available.
