Minimum Qualifications You must be a qualified employee of The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55B/55C service in a clerical position allocated to grade 9 or higher, or as an Administrative Aide or Agency Program Aide or Offender Rehabilitation Aide. You must also take and pass the Civil Service examination when it is announced and be reachable by score.
Qualifying experience for appointment from the eligible list: After one year of the service described in minimum qualifications.
Duties Description As an Inmate Records Coordinator 1, you would perform any number of the following duties: training and supervision of subordinate staff; receiving and discharging of inmates; maintaining official records of inmates' commitment and sentence, transfer, or release; maintaining custody of inmate property; preparing reports; scheduling and recording results of parole board hearings; arranging and scheduling inmate movement; acting on warrants from various jurisdictions on inmates currently in custody; assisting and advising management in various areas related to inmate records; computing inmate time in accordance with sentences on commitment and subsequent decisions affecting inmate time; and compiling data for the Attorney Generals Office on behalf of the Department in relation to defense of Department employees. You might be required to testify in state or local courts on behalf of state employees or as a witness on behalf of inmates or inmate advocates.
