Duties Description Under the direct supervision of the Director of Claims, Validations and Prize Payments, duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assist the Director of Claims, Validations and Prize Payments with the day to day operations of the Lottery Prize Payments unit.
• Supervise fifteen clerical staff that process Lottery prize claims and subscriptions.
• Oversee staffing and operation of the Schenectady Lottery Customer Service Center, a regional office where prize claims are paid and customers can purchase Lottery tickets. Duties include reconciliation of sales and preparation of cash deposits.
• Oversee staffing and operation of Subscriptions unit ensuring adequate customer service and timely subscriptions processing.
• Assist in handling customer relations issues from prize winners and subscription holders.
• Review all input and edits to the Lottery annuity winner database; ensuring monthly annuity payments to prize winners reflect appropriate withholdings, liens, structured settlement buyouts (prize assignments) and other court ordered adjustments. Requires limited interaction with Counsel’s Office.
• Respond to FOIL requests related to Lottery prize claims.
• Review claims for payment on instant ticket prizes associated with stolen instant books. Approve or deny payment based on circumstances of the claim.
• Assist the Director of Claims, Validations and Prize Payments in responding to prize payment issues reported by staff at the Lottery regional customer service centers and the video lottery gaming facilities.
• Review all jackpot prize claims and communicate directly with claimants to provide payment details including the application of withholding taxes and offset obligations. Coordinate with the Communications office to set up jackpot winner media events and web-only winner announcements.
• Consult and cooperate with the Lottery Security unit to resolve customer claim disputes (e.g. altered tickets, suspicious claims, etc.).
• Other duties as required by the Director of Claims, Validations and Prize Payments.
