Minimum Qualifications • In title as a Nurse Administrator 1, Grade 20;

OR

• Eligible for a 70.1 transfer by way of current permanent status in a title deemed comparable to Nurse Administrator 1 by the Department of Civil Service (must also be within 2 salary grades of a grade 20).

OR

• Qualified for Provisional appointment by meeting the minimum qualifications on the Nurse Administrator 1 examination announcement:
two years of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows:

Either A. Nurse 2, Nurse 2 (Psychiatric), Nurse 2 (Psychiatric) (Spanish Language), Nurse 2 (Psychiatric) (Chinese Language), Nurse 2 (Manual Communications), Community Mental Health Nurse, Community Mental Health Nurse (Spanish Language), Infection Control Nurse, or Senior Utilization Review Nurse;

Or B. two years in any Grade 16 or higher position that requires a license and current New York State registration as a Registered Nurse.


Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides clinical supervision and Leadership to all RNs who manage 24 houses in Region 1 which includes Northern/Southern Saratoga County. Provides clinical leadership and supervision to the LPN pool that service the medically complex houses. Provides oversight to Nurse 2/LPN to ensure that individuals’ health care needs are met.

• Ensures that the assigned RN’s coordinate appointments for primary visits, consultant services and required tests.

• Ensures that medications and treatments are administered according to approved policies and regulations.

• Ensures that RN’s are providing nursing component to the Interdisciplinary Team.

• Functions as the clinical component to the management teams for Region 1 and Region 2
Medically complex houses.

• Ensures that timely and current training is provided to RN’s, LPN’s and direct support staff in areas of medication administration, medical policies, and any other nursing or medical issues.

• Provides quality assurance activities by ensuring that all applicable regulations are followed.

• Coordinates with hospitals and long term care support for end of life issues and/or plan safe discharges back to medically complex houses.

• Functions as a member of the DDSO Medical Policy Committee, to develop and/or revise policies regarding medical care and treatment.

• Functions as a member of the Nursing Board, to review matters regarding medication certification status of AMAPs.

• Completes audits and trending for the administrative team regarding medical services.

• Completes incident investigations as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Preference for a skill set comparable to an ICU/CCU, medical/ surgical nurse or similar experience to apply adequate medical expertise to the nursing service.

• CAPA: Must be cleared by the NYS Central Register for Child Abuse and Maltreatment, if position requires working with minors and not previously cleared.
