Salary RangeFrom $46836 to $56888 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c status as a Legal Assistant 1 OR current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service in a position allocated to a Grade 12 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1* of the Civil Service Law.
*Candidates must also possess an associate’s degree (or higher) in a paralegal/legal assistant program OR a certificate in a paralegal/legal assistant program where either the degree or certificate was granted from a regionally accredited college or university, or college or university accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) or one approved by the American Bar Association (ABA).

Duties Description Duties will include, but not be limited to: providing critical paralegal support to 18 attorneys including, tracking vehicle accident and insurance claims from the Statewide Fleet Program and supporting the agency’s privacy and records management officer ensuring proper retention and monitoring access of major collections of critical records. The incumbent shall perform legal research of cases and agency rules and regulations, make redactions and draft responses to routine Freedom of Information Law, (FOIL) requests, draft legal documents, manage agency litigation cases, initiate placement of required litigation holds, collect records and investigation results and assemble such information for the Attorney General and outside counsel in the coordination of legal proceedings. In addition, the incumbent shall be well organized and independently manage litigation and contract files, associated databases, legal template documents and maintain office procedures as necessary.
