Minimum Qualifications Must possess a High School Diploma/GED and either one year experience in Dental Assisting or graduation from an accredited program in Dental Assisting.
Duties Description Under the Dentists direct supervision provides supportive services to the Dentist - notes treatments prescribed and scheduled for appointments and prepares work area by laying out necessary materials and required instruments in proper array. During treatment, stays by Dentist at chair-side, anticipates needs and hands Dentist appropriate instruments and materials. Prepares materials using standard procedure, anticipates procedural needs and brings materials to chair-side for use by Dentist. As instructed by Dentist, personally performs retractions of patients tongue and cheek and manipulates syringes and suction equipment to keep patients mouth free of saliva and blood. Continually observes patients general condition during treatment, including oral surgery in order to detect evidence of distress or shock, takes x-rays. Posts and files records. Performs light housekeeping tasks.
