Minimum Qualifications In order to be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
Duties Description
The incumbent of this position will perform administrative tasks for the Office of Environment. Duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Answer the Office main telephone line and direct calls accordingly;
• Respond to inquiries;
• Enter visitor information into the Visitor Management System;
• Review correspondences and draft responses where appropriate;
• Coordinate and schedule meetings;
• Maintain office filing systems;
• Coordinate office mail distribution;
• Assist with establishing office procedures;
• Review and properly format outgoing correspondence;
• Coordinate internal Office reviews of Commissioner’s Correspondences, Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests;
• Coordinate transportation and lodging arrangements for the Director, Assistant to the Director, and other office staff;
• Provide supervision to Office Assistant-1.
• Coordinate information flow by acting as liaison among key executives, staff, other employees, and the public;
• Transmit instructions and information to staff and conduct follow-up;
• Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
