Minimum Qualifications Current Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Health Program Administrator 1, G-23 OR current DOH or other NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent permanent service in a Grade 21 or higher title deemed eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 or Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law
The preferred candidate will have program management experience in public health and/or child health areas and excellent communication and writing skills; experience in implementing policies and procedures to align with program goals and compliance requirements; experience with facilitation of group processes and giving presentations; proficiency with MS Office (including Word, Excel, Access and Power Point); and supervisory experience.
Duties Description Under direction of the Community Based Health Unit Manager in the Bureau of Child Health, the Health Program Administrator 1 (HPA 1) will coordinate child health initiatives, specifically related to children with special health care needs including, but not limited to: reviewing national and state data, policy and evidence-based practice to inform and improve supports and services for children and families; developing written documents including briefings, correspondence, request for applications and proposals; reviewing grant proposals as well as contract workplans and reports to ensure contract deliverables are met: preparing materials and presenting information in in-person meetings or via webinars for contractors and key stakeholders; summarizing qualitative feedback from stakeholders to inform program planning; providing technical assistance to contractors to improve performance including some on-site visits; and assisting with quality improvement projects that improve service delivery for children and children with special health care needs, including health equity.
Additional Comments Occasional travel to and between funded projects, and to attend training, meetings and conference is required.
