Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience under a journey-level electrician position which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in the electrical trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in the electrical trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis.
Duties Description The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Park Manager at Midway State Park. The candidate will be stationed at Midway State Park, but will be the first contact for electrical service at Long Point and Lake Erie State Parks and Sunset Bay State Marine Park. The incumbent will perform multiple tasks including diagnosing and repairing electrical system malfunctions, testing electrical equipment for safety and efficiency, installing fixtures, motors and electrical equipment, inspecting circuits and wiring, rewiring systems, plans layout and wires new installations, measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit, etc. This same general scope of work will apply not only to standard park facilities, but also to amusement park rides and arcade games (historic and modern). The selected candidate will also plan new or modify installations consistent with specifications and electrical codes. As assigned, the incumbent will supervise and instruct others in the repair, maintenance and installation of electrical systems and equipment. The incumbent may also be required to perform other semi-skilled work such as plumbing and carpentry repairs as assigned; inspect park facilities and equipment for deficiencies, make recommendations for corrective action, and effect repairs in coordination with the Park Manager. The selected candidate will operate, maintain and repair hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, measuring and test equipment appropriate for the crafts that are assigned; and, will be required to operate, maintain, and make minor repairs to motor equipment and heavy equipment such as, but not limited to, mowers, tractors, skid steers, dump trucks, snow plows, and utility vehicles. The incumbent may operate a bucket truck and/or Timberjack Digger Derrick as needed.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEED:
• Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License as a term and condition of employment.
• Must possess a valid NYS Commercial Driver’s License Class B or obtain one within the probationary period and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.*
• Must be able to operate or learn how to operate a bucket truck and Timberjack Digger Derrick within the probationary period as a term and condition of employment.
• Experience with installing, inspecting, maintaining and performing electrical repairs of amusement park rides and arcade games (historic and modern) is preferred.
• Must be available to work a variable schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
