Minimum Qualifications Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, OR Reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list.

Provisional Qualifications: You must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55b/55c service as:
A: An Addictions Counselor 2; OR
B: Community Mental Health Nurse, Nurse Administrator 1, Nurse Administrator 1 (Psychiatric) , Nurse 3 (Psychiatric), Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Social Worker 1, Social Worker 1 (Spanish Language), Social Worker 1 (Deaf and Hearing Impaired), Social Worker 2, Social Worker 2 (Spanish Language), Licensed Master Social Worker 1, Licensed Master Social Worker 2, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker AND current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). OR
A bachelor’s degree or higher AND current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in New York State AND three years of post-CASAC addictions counseling experience in a certified or licensed program AND one year of clinical supervision in a certified or licensed program.

Duties Description The incumbent will supervise members of a multidisciplinary team, providing treatment services to alcohol and substance abuse disordered patients, at a 48 bed inpatient rehabilitation program. The incumbent will carry out such tasks as, but not limited to the following: individual and group therapy, didactic presentations, and tasks in support of the total therapeutic environment and milieu and quality patient care; psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge plans; assisting patients and significant others to continue treatment and/or be engaged in recognized self-help groups. In addition, provide clinical oversight and supervision of staff to include completion of performance programs/evaluations; coordinating with nurse administrator to ensure unit coverage and needs are met; coordinate with assistant director to ensure full compliance for all accrediting bodies; crisis intervention as needed and other tasks as assigned or needed. Oversee performance improvement activities including monitoring and collecting data and assuming responsibility for reports and the keeping of program statistics. Participate as member of the Leadership Team.

$64,757 - $82,113*
*Plus $1,513 location pay

Background Investigation Requirements:

All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
