Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography. Valid driver’s License required.
Duties Description Under the supervision of a Biologist or Technician, Seasonal Technician will assist in various samplings techniques, including but not limited to: limnological -lower trophic state and water quality; fisheries - gill netting, seining, hydroacoutics, fyke netting, electrofishing (boat and backpack); and freshwater mussel – surveys. Night and weekend work will be required. Must be able to identify fish. Work in a variety of inclement weather conditions and difficult terrain is possible. Technician must effectively interact and communicate with the public and other members of the team. Experience in Excel, Access and GIS is a plus. Experience in creel surveys is a plus. Experience in aquatic invertebrate identification, enumeration and determining population matrixes highly valuable.
Additional Comments Capable of safely trailering and operating boats along with working on outboard motors is a plus. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds.
