Minimum Qualifications Must be reachable on current Civil Service, Payroll Examiner 1, SG-12 list or currently hold the title of Payroll Examiner 1, SG-12 or a title from which transfer is appropriate.

Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:

• Verifies processing of the Research Foundation payroll using the ORACLE system by proofreading information on appointment documents to ensure accuracy in the system. Inputs tax withholdings, FICA indicator, VISA and direct deposit information, tracks NRA/RA treaty recipients and associated paperwork, and mail drop identifiers. Calculates biweekly paycheck amounts and updates internal payroll registers. Audits hourly timesheets for hours worked, rates, amounts to be paid, and account numbers to be charged, and inputs this information into the ORACLE system. Interprets rules, regulations and policies set up by The Research Foundation of SUNY Central Office.
• Processes the College Work Study and Student Assistant payroll using the SUNY online system. Uses PAYSERV to confirm the current status for inputting appointment information into the SUNY system. Audits hourly timesheets for hours worked, rates, amounts to be paid and account numbers to be charged. Inputs information into the SUNY system so that payroll checks are issued. Tracks NRA/RA treaty recipients and associated paperwork. Interprets rules and regulations issued by Office of State Comptroller and Department of Budget. Identify suggestions for efficiencies in processes with online Time and Attendance system.
• Provides back-up for Main State and Graduate Assistant payrolls.
• Audits Research Foundation exempt and non-exempt records to the appropriate time accrual system. Interprets Research Foundation of SUNY time and attendance rules and regulations. Calculates corrections for payroll input, vacation payouts and drafts adjustment documentation as needed.
• Inputs direct deposits, withholding allowances and other deductions into PAYSERV for all state payrolls.
• Inputs overtime, overtime meals, pre-shift briefing, holiday and hourly Civil Service employees, etc. via SUNY system.
• Runs RF and State Payroll reports from various systems to identify potential problems; makes necessary corrections, and distributes to appropriate Business Office personnel.
• Assists with the completion of forms from outside agencies regarding employees (e.g. unemployment wage verification, social services, etc.)
• Serves as first-line customer service provider, acknowledging visitors to Payroll Office upon arrival, and responds to customer requests relating to payroll.
• Answers questions and resolves issues within the scope of position; refers problems to Supervisor.
• Supervises subordinate clerical and student employees as needed.
• Assists with special projects and various other tasks related to payroll.
