Duties Description The CMSO YC 1 (Court Liaison) will complete specialty functions as a Court Liaison and Initial Intake Worker.

The Upstate Court Liaison will represent the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth, Bureau of Community Services in County Family courts and in Youth Parts in County/Supreme Courts pertaining to various court proceedings.

Performs Court Liaison functions in all assigned counties as directed by the Intake Supervisor. Understands and demonstrates a working knowledge of the New York State Family Court Act and Executive Law that pertains to Juvenile Delinquents, Restricted Juvenile Delinquents, Adolescent Offenders, Juvenile Offenders, and Juvenile Offenders with Youthful Offender Status.

Requests and receives Extension of Placement/Permanency petitions and supporting documentation from facility and CMSO staff. Reviews said documents for completeness and accuracy; returning documents to the petitioner for any necessary revisions. Ensures timely filing of petitions, affidavits to show cause, supplemental petitions, Be thoroughly prepared and appear at all required hearings. and motions pursuant to local court rules.

Serves as the OCFS liaison with the Parent/Guardian and youth during the placement court process and supplemental court proceedings


Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview.

Additional Comments Candidates must be on the Youth Counselor 1 Civil Service List or be eligible for transfer to qualify for the position.

The position requires extensive travel to all the County Courts covered by the CMSO office.
