Duties Description OPWDD’s Regional Office has enhanced responsibility for managing residential
resources in accordance with the Statewide Certified Residential Opportunities Protocol and the goal of the
Transformation Agenda. The function of this position that needs to be accomplished is the
monitoring, maintaining and updating of the residential needs referral list and the contact with individuals and
families that has requested residential services to educate them on options as well as verify what services will
be needed in a residential setting.
This position plays an integral role in the OPWDD Certified Residential Opportunities Protocol by ensuring
individuals are appropriately matched to certified, non-certified and self-directed supports in a timely manner.
This position also will require the successful candidate to work closely with residential providers to ensure the
Regional Office has the most current information regarding available residential opportunities within the WNY
seven county catchment area. Additionally, the successful candidate will be required to present/ train agencies
including MSC’s and MSC supervisors regarding the most current Residential Protocol.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Function as a member of the Region 1- Western Certified Residential Opportunities Team by operationalizing and implementing the State-Wide Certified Residential Opportunities protocol; including procedures and forms.
• Act as the central point of contact for all Medicaid Service Coordinators, families and other entities inquiring about residential placement and the referral process within the 7 county catchment area that makes up the WNY district.
• Educate and provide technical assistance to the Medicaid Service Coordinators regarding the Certified
Residential Opportunities process.
• Have a strong working knowledge base of Residential Opportunities philosophy, protocols, forms and procedures in order to effectively work with and educate the Voluntary Residential Providers.
• Receive and review incoming residential referrals.
• Participate in weekly Certified Residential Opportunity committee meetings to review and apply the State-Wide Category designation to incoming residential referrals
• On a daily basis, update and accurately report required information on the local Certified Residential Opportunities Tracking Report regarding referrals, screenings and demographics.
• Facilitate and arrange screening opportunities as appropriate between individuals and prospective residential
Providers by distributing residential referral packets as appropriate and as requested.
• Participate and assist with facilitation of the monthly Access to Residential Opportunities Committee meetings.
• Assist with Crisis residential emergencies as assigned.
