Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that attorneys in the Office be citizens of the United States. A two (2) year commitment upon being hired is a condition of employment.

Duties Description The Environmental Protection Bureau in the New York State Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking mid-level litigators for the New York City office. Applicants must have a minimum (5) five years of experience litigating environmental or comparable complex cases. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of state and federal environmental statutes, will have served as primary counsel in both state and federal court litigation, and will have experience in every aspect of litigation, including both affirmative and defense litigation, motions, oral arguments, trials, and settlements. Excellent writing skills are required, and the applicant must have the ability to work well with client agencies, such as the Department of Environmental Conservation, Department of Health and others. Commitment to public service is essential.

Additional Comments Salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with the pay scale of the OAG.
