Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable for appointment on the current Civil Service eligible list for the title

OR

Candidates must be currently permanent as a Nutrition Services Administrator 1 and eligible for transfer; OR in a comparable title and eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law.

Provisional Opportunity:

In the absence of an eligible list, candidates who meet the following qualifications may be provisionally appointed:

For the Public:

One year of professional administrative experience* in a food or nutrition program

AND

Either 1. have completed a program in dietetics-nutrition leading to a bachelor's degree or a higher degree that is, at the time you completed the program, registered by the New York State Education Department as qualifying for certification in dietetics-nutrition or accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE); and have completed at least 900 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a registered dietitian or nutrition professional;

Or

2. be currently registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian.

*professional administrative experience is defined as duties focused on planning, coordinating, and supervising in a community-based, residential, hospital, or institutional nutrition services program which includes one or more program components: food distribution, food production, clinical dietetics, outpatient nutrition services, or quality management services.

For NYS Employees:

One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Dietitian 2

AND

Either 1. have a bachelor's degree or higher academic credential that was, at the time you completed the program, registered by the New York State Education Department as qualifying for certification in dietetics-nutrition or accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE); and have completed at least 800 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian or nutrition professional;

Or

2. be currently certified by the New York State Education Department as a Dietitian-Nutritionist and having originally received that certification prior to December 21, 2000;

Or

3. be currently registered with the Commission on Dietitian Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian.

Duties Description As a Nutrition Services Administrator, you would assist with or organize and direct the total food service program operated by a facility or an agency. You would assist in developing food service policies as they relate to treatment plans and care; serve as the liaison for food services with program staff involved in the treatment process; supervise training programs; and participate in the selection of employees.

Additional Comments Background Investigation/Justice Center Review:

Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees will be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
In order to be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or federally assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment.

This position is eligible for a Downstate Adjustment of $3,026.
