Job Specifics
Duties Description Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Claims, the Workers’ Compensation Program Manager 3 oversees the functions of multiple claims examiner teams engaged in analyzing and determining the appropriate resolution path of Workers’ Compensation cases. These teams may be physically located in one or more district offices and processing claims assigned to one or more districts. In this role, the Workers’ Compensation Program Manager 3 will be responsible for the following for all teams within its oversight:
• Directing and coordinating work by setting goals and objectives;
• Monitoring the production and quality of the work completed;
• Responding to stakeholder inquiries and issues;
• Performing all supervisory responsibilities;
• Implementing statewide policies and procedures in accordance with the Workers’ Compensation Law and Rules and Regulations.
• In addition, the Workers’ Compensation Manager 3 may be responsible for facilitating the overall operations of one or more District Offices as determined by the Assistant Director.
• Approximately 10-15% travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service eligible list.
OR
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a Grade 27, M-2 position or higher and be eligible for transfer under 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
OR
Provisional Qualifications:
Must be a qualified employee of the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board with permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows: After one year of service as a Workers' Compensation Program Manager 2, after two years of service as a Principal Workers' Compensation Examiner, or after three years of service as an Associate Workers' Compensation Examiner.
If appointed provisionally, the incumbent will need to take the next Civil Service examination for this title and pass with a score that will be immediately reachable on the resulting eligible list. Failure to take, pass and achieve a reachable score on the examination may result in revocation of the appointment.
Additional Comments Please Note: This position requires both in-office and remote work. A hybrid telecommuting schedule can be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview.
