TRANSFER OPPORTUNITY:

Currently a permanent Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 or 70.1 transfer eligible within two grades as determined by Civil Service, i.e., Registered Nurse 2 with one-year permanent service.

Applicants must have a license and current registration to practice nursing in New York State, a bachelor's degree in nursing; and two years of post-licensure professional clinical nursing experience. One year of this experience must have been providing direct services to individuals diagnosed with mental illness, developmental disabilities, addiction, or substance use disorders in a community setting.

Services may include, but are not limited to, nursing interventions and their documentation, case finding, health teaching/counseling and provision of supportive and/or restorative care.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Directly supervise RN1's in the community.
• Ensure adequate nursing supports and coverage to multiple teams.
• Coordinate and assist mentoring, training, and guiding new RN1's in their new roles.
• Assist teams in BPC audit and investigation findings while interpreting policies/procedures and regulations and complete pre-survey audits to assist in troubleshooting concerns.
• Act as liaison with community providers and families when there are concerns that are met.
• Complete team investigations once trained.
• Sit on committees when needed such as Medication Event, Pharmacy Steering, Informed Consent Committee, or Incident Review Committee.
• Actively participate in RN1 interviews and offer feedback and hiring recommendations regarding candidates.
• Work independently as well as work well with interdisciplinary team members, and peer RNS1's.
• Addressing deficits in knowledge as it relates to nursing and enhancing this knowledge.
• Provide training to RN’s as necessary within the community when vulnerabilities are noted, such as how to write a Plan of Nursing Service effectively, or MOLST and SDMC process.
• Provide assistance in communicating with community physicians when necessary to promote education if the various areas of nursing (MOLST process).
• Travel throughout western counties of Onondaga, Cortland, Oswego, Cayuga is necessary.
• Ability to adjust schedule to meet operational needs is essential.
