Duties/ Responsibilities

The incumbent for this position will be assigned to the Child Support Modernization Project (ASSETS) within the Bureau of Information Technology. The incumbent will perform analysis, design, code development and ongoing support for the ASSETS project. This position will perform the following job duties:

Coordinate release planning with business users;

Assist on project schedule; identify issues and risks to project;

Assist IT manager and lead architect with overall planning for the project;

Assist IT manager and lead architect with technology planning for the project;

Gather, organize and perform preliminary analysis of requests for technical feasibility;

Lead in meetings and work with users and other IT staff to gather and discuss the business requirements and solution options;

Lead in analyzing the impact of proposed system modifications on the existing components of the system;

Lead or perform with design activities including creating UML diagrams such as; class, sequence and activity;

Lead or perform with data modeling which includes creating ERD diagrams;

Lead or perform with the development of use case diagrams to translate business requirements into functional workflows;

Perform code walkthroughs with development staff;

Review and verify all design documents;
Mentor IT3 staff with proper coding practices and standards

Develop IT standard guides for development staff;

Provide on call support for system on nights and weekends;

Perform troubleshooting activities when system errors occur;

Communicate with users when problem occur

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

Five years of specialized experience including:

Two or more years experience working with Oracle databases (9i and above);

Two or more years experience in JAVA programming;

Two or more years experience in EJB development and transaction management programming in a complex, large-scale environment involving the integration of J2EE applications with other environments, including legacy mainframe environments;

Two or more years experience with Web security protocol and Single Sign On (SSO) integration (preferably using LDAP and Netegrity SiteMinder);

Two or more years experience developing JSP/Servlets and in the use of STRUTS framework;

Two or more year experience with use of XML, JAXB and web services in a J2EE environment;

Two or more years experience with the use of Hibernate.
