Duties/ Responsibilities

BQI oversees the clinical risk management function, collects and aggregates incident data, compiling statewide reports and recommends correct action.

The duties of the Mental Health Program Specialist 3 include, but are not limited to, the following:

Review all State Psychiatric Centers and licensed provider incidents within the assigned geographic area. Assess each incident for content and appropriateness of response.

Conduct investigations on complaints within the assigned geographic area.

Conduct site visits and investigations at State and Licensed Mental Health facilities. Write reports; participate in briefings; report recommendations and follow-up to ensure appropriate actions have been taken.

Maintain and adhere to the Clinical Risk Manager protocol for Child Abuse cases by communicating with OCFS staff, logging intake, ensuring OMH responsibility for investigation and documenting the process.

Maintain working relationship with Field Office staff. Participate in Field Office work activities.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

Please Note: Individuals must be currently employed by New York State to be eligible for appointment to this position.

Individuals who have one year of permanent service as a Mental Health Program Specialist 3 OR who are eligible to transfer via Sections 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law by having at least one year of permanent service in a qualifying title within two salary grades or one M grade of this position are eligible to apply.
