Duties/ Responsibilities

Up to 50% of time will be spent on ensuring NYS PYS Physical Education Requirements are met at the facility. Plan, supervise and coordinate youth recreation activities

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

One year of permanent competitive service as a Youth Recreation Specialist 2 or eligible for 70.1 transfer.
Provisional Qualifications: Either a Bachelor's degree and two years of full-time experience in a physical education or sports oriented
recreation program primarily for youth between the ages of 10 and 21; OR a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education; Recreation; Leisure Studies; Outdoor Education, Therapeutic Recreation; Recreation Management; Outdoor/Environmental Education and Camping; Leisure Recreation Program Delivery; Management of Leisure Studies; Outdoor Recreation; or in a closely related degree in the field of recreation; and one year of full-time experience described above; OR a Master's degree in one of the above listed degree areas or in a closely related degree in the field of recreation.

Additional Comments

Fingerprinting is required at the time of appointment, the fee is currently $86.75. In addition, screening through the New York State Register for Child Abuse and Maltreatment will also be required, the fee is currently $5.
